Phymean selected top 10 CNN Hero

A Blue Ribbon panel made up of world leaders and luminaries including Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Jane Goodall, Sir Richard Branson, Kristi Yamaguchi and Deepak Chopra has selected Phymean Noun as a Top 10 CNN Hero.

“I can’t believe that CNN has selected me”, Noun said. “It is a amazing that CNN has taken the time to produce a program to profile people who are doing selfless work in the world”.

Hosted by CNN’s Anderson Cooper from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute” will honor the Top 10 CNN Heroes of 2008 to be broadcast November 27, 9 p.m. ET.

Viewers are encouraged to vote for their favorite hero.

PIO Student Profile

Many of you have asked about some of the students at PIO and their background. Below is a story of an exceptional student at PIO and the ways that PIO helps the local community.

Somaly was born 1993 and is from the remote area of Pursat Province. She has 10 siblings, 4 sisters and 5 brothers. She is the fourth child in the family. Several years ago, her mother’s health deteriorated and the family needed to seek treatment in Phnom Penh. Her father was forced to sell the family’s home to treat her mother’s disease. After treatment, her mother’s disease was better than before and they rented a home located at the Phnom Penh garbage dump.
